7. Confessions

Spike walked into Angel's office and perched casually on the edge of his desk.

"So Angel" he began "you going to be in the office all day?"

"Why?" Angel asked warily.

"No reason, just wondered what you were up to is all" Spike said evasively.

"If you are going to borrow the Viper just go ahead and do it Spike. Try and bring it back in one piece though, one day I would like to drive it myself" Angel replied in exasperation.

"No!" Spike exclaimed offended at the suggestion, if he was going to take the Viper he would just take it.

"Then what? I don't have time for twenty questions Spike, what is this all about?" Angel only had a short fuse for Spike's games at the best of times.

"Alright, bloody hell!" Spike pushed his hand through his hair "I have a couple of...guests... visiting today, they may want to meet you."

"Guests?"

"Two ladies who wanted a tour of Wolfram & Hart and a chance to see me in action" Spike tried to tell Angel enough to appease him without too much embarrassment.

Angel, however, wasn't buying "You brought two 'ladies' to Wolfram & Hart for a sightseeing tour? What kind of fool do you take me for? If you have let some bar room pick ups into our offices I am going to tear you limb from limb."

Angel was half out of his seat before Spike could get a word in edgeways, "Gladys and Maud are not bar room pick ups," he said indignantly. "They are two... lovely... older vampires who won a day with me in an auction" he finished quickly and waiting for Angel's reaction.

Angel was silent for a moment staring at Spike in bemusement. When he realised that Spike was not joking a smile began to tug at the sides of his mouth.

"Maud and Gladys, won you in an auction... what sort of auction?" he asked curiously.

"Harmony was running an auction at a meeting of VISS on the weekend, I followed her and ended up being auctioned" he ended lamely.

"VISS?"

"Vampires In Search of Souls" Spike explained.

Angel could feel the laughter bubbling up but he had to ask one more question.

"When you say old, do you mean in human or vampire years?"

"Human" Spike confessed, "They look like they should be someone's grandmother."

Angel could not hold back any longer and he let the laughter out until there were tears in his eyes.

Spike's scowl grew stronger as the laughter continued.

"You won't laugh when you find out what Harmony was auctioning," he muttered just loud enough for Angel to hear over his laughter.

Wiping the tears from his eyes Angel looked at Spike curiously.

"Just what was Harmony auctioning?" he asked suspiciously.

"Photographs of you and me, our autographs, that poxy cup of perpetual torment and one of your silk shirts...the midnight blue one" Spike finished with relish, conveniently leaving out his boxer shorts.

"Harmony!" Angel's bellow of rage made Spike jump.

"Yes Boss" Harmony's voice came through the intercom.

"Get in here now." Angel ordered through gritted teeth.

Harmony poked her head around the door hesitantly, looking at Angel with apprehension.

"Were you going to tell me about your little business opportunity?" Angel asked, his voice ominously quiet.

Harmony had the grace to look abashed and Spike did not even bother to hide the grin on his face.

"Well boss, they weren't things that anyone was going to miss..." she trailed off at the look on Angel's face.

"My midnight blue silk shirt?" he asked in a pained voice.

Harmony hung her head "I'm sorry boss but you have so many, I did not think you would miss one. I was going to replace it before you found out" she shot a glance of annoyance to Spike who grinned unashamed back at her.

At that moment Lorne dashed through the door and headed straight for Angel's liquor cabinet.

He turned to Spike "you owe me so much cupcake, I don't know how you are ever going to repay me" he shuddered tossing back several shots of neat whiskey.

"Where are they?" Spike asked in a worried tone.

"Wesley is heading them off, but he won't be able to hold them for long" Lorne shuddered again "they never stopped talking, and I think I have a date on Saturday with one of their nieces. Where did they come from? No never mind' Lorne held one shaking hand up "I do not want to know, I just never want to see them again."

Lorne knocked back the rest of the whiskey and headed for the door "I am out of here. Spike you are on your own." He peered around the door before making a run for it.

Harmony began to sidle out after him but Angel was not finished with her.

"Hold it right there Harmony." Angel ordered, "Tell me who VISS are and how you got involved with them?"

"Well I was online one day in a chat room and I got talking to this other vampire. I had mentioned your no drinking human blood policy and he told me about this group. They initially had got together as vampires who did not drink human blood and then they discovered you and blondie bear."

Angel was already beginning to look confused at the mention of chat rooms and being online and he looked very startled at her last comment.

"They discovered me and Spike?"

"Well, apparently word got out in the community quite a few years ago and when you took over Wolfram & Hart everyone started talking. You know demons do not know how to keep a secret they are such big gossips. Anyway, some of the V.I. started to keep a dossier on you and when Spike appeared as well they got really excited and that is when VISS came into existence."

"V.I?' Angel asked weakly.

"Vampires Anonymous, for vampires that had gone on the wagon. Maud and Gladys are lifetime members, they were part of the original organising committee." Harmony explained cheerfully.

"You should see the websites that are out there Angel" Spike interrupted "Some of them are amazing. There are groups out there that idolise us."

Angel's pained expression did not ease as he digested what Harmony and Spike were telling him.

"So these vampires voluntarily chose not to drink blood? And they want their souls back?"

Before Harmony could answer there was a noise from outside the office.

"Cooee! Is anyone there?" Maud's cheerful voice sang out.

Without warning the door swung back and Maud and Gladys swept in.

"Hello dearies" Gladys chirped "We've finished our cup of tea and chat with that lovely Wesley lad, what's next on the agenda?" She stopped as she took in Angel's office.

"Oh my Maud" she said with pleasure "this must be Angel, I just know it is."

Spike grinned evilly "Ladies, let me introduce our esteemed leader Angel. Angel this is Maud and Gladys."

Startled Angel got to his feet as the ladies gushed over to him.

"Oh my Gladys, he is just as handsome as his picture" Maud fluttered her eyelashes at Angel "It is wonderful that our two souled vampires are such handsome specimens."

Gladys dove into her handbag and came right up to Angel, beaming she pinned a badge to his chest, "we have badges for everyone" she said reaching into her bag again and pulling out more badges.

"Maud's eldest makes them for us" Gladys explained as she pinned one on Spike.

Spike looked down and recognised the smiley face with fangs from the VISS meeting.

Angel was looking like he had just been run over by a bus as the ladies continued to fuss over him.

"Now Angel, you must tell us all about your experiences, our boys just idolise you, you know." Maud pulled Angel over to the couch and settled down.

"Oh yes" Gladys agreed sitting down next to him. "We want to know everything. Tell me do you have a significant other in your life right now? Because Maud has a lovely niece who would be just your type..."

A/N: Next time Angel gets hit with the full force of the terrible twosome. Don't think Spike is safe either they haven't finished with him. And we find out more about Maud and Gladys.

Later: more with VISS and somehow Spike and Angel both end up at the next VISS meeting.

Thanks for all the review guys, keep them coming, they are so good for my ego and my creative urges.
